Bio Photographer Erik Heuver
My young youth in Enschede were delicious and uninhabited. I often played outside and most of the sundays I went with my parents and older sister. My father, then a professional photographer, said more than once during these walks: "Nature is my greatest example." He was a quiet, hardworking man and came to rest in nature. Something that I could not understand as a boy because I was too busy playing.
When I was 9 years old, my father was diagnosed with liver cancer and the year after he died of this disease at the age of 48. Until now, we can only guess if he has become ill because of the many work with chemicals in the dark room.
The loss has marked my life emotionally, but did not stop me from looking for my own path. Ice skating and sports was a nice escape valve in my teens.
That ended when, at the age of 25, I moved around and moved to Belgium because of work. In retrospect, to have more room for my personal development and deployment. After a few years I became more and more interested in photography and I wondered if I could inherit this passion of my father. Then, four years later, I began a study of Photography in Oudenaarde (TSO) with teachers, Hilde Braet, Leen Brands, Luc Polfliet and Kris Snoeck and then Ghent Academy at Lieven Herremans. I noticed that I could lose myself all the time in photography and that the passion for making a beautiful image took possession of me.
After a five-year study, I started as a freelance photographer and I switched my job from a job in a photo shop to get closer to photography.
After twenty years of Bruges, Nazareth and Oudenaarde, I moved back to the Netherlands in 2016, to Haaksbergen near Enschede. Over the past few years I have been able to see and experience many spectrum spots in the world. As a result, I have accumulated a considerable amount of material and can refine my skills as a photographer more and more.
At 33 years of age he started a photography study (TSO Photography) and subsequently completed his 1st year of the photography academy in Gent and then started working as a freelance photographer in 2010.
